Questioning if I have bipolar depression

Posted in Group:

Hello all, this is my 1st time posting to this group. I am a 37 year old woman who was recently diagnosed with severe depression and anxiety. I have had to be hospitalized 3x's at the end of last year due to suicidal ideation and an actual attempt. I tried many med's (Celexa, Lexapro, Vistaryl, Buspar, Remeron etc) and none seem to work. In the hospital this last time I was given Wellbuterin and Paxil. It really seemed to help for a few weeks then stopped. Someone mentioned to me that this might be a sign of bipolar depression. My mother is bipolar...I have never had any episodes of mania or hypomania. Just curious what you all think. Should I explore this with my pdoc?

You have to go to your local behavorial clinic and make an apt to get assessment to see if you are bi-polar. That is what I had to do. Once it is established they will try different meds to get you stable and also provide therapy if you want it.
