I Have Bipolar and ADD - I just don't understand how to deal with it.

Posted in Group:

I was reading about the sympthoms of bipolar vs ADD and found out not much, but it did say "The main symptom of ADHD is a disturbance in attention. The main symptom of bipolar disorder is a disturbance in mood." Bot most of the other symptom are similar in Bipolar.

I had a real hard time in school. I could not focus and I could read a page and not remember what it was about. I was bad at English and really bad in Math. In fact. if a job consisted in any math without a calculator I would not take it. I was fired a few times because I couldn't comprehend the projects given to me. I couldn't transcribe notes because I couldn't keep up. The voices all rain together. I just barely gratuated and didn't plan to go to college.

I never went to college except photojournalism. I wished I pursued it more, but I always quit. If the getting got hard I would give up.

I still have these issues. I still don't pay attention to details. I still can concentrate on what I'm reading - I'll forget it in a minute. I'm very pulsive at any thing I do like spending money.

I need to find a way to help mself with this I want to be able to focus and finish the job at hand instead of quitting. I asked the doctor if there is something he could givve me. He said not while I'm take these other meds for Bipolar.

Thank you for listening - Sorry it was too long.

Hi Vh2011, have you asked your doctor for any helpful tools and/or exercises to help you with focus?

Sending you many positive vibes and wishing you all of the best.

Thanks for your comments. I was at the doctor today and asked her about it. She feel that with the medications I'm should help some. I take so many meds she is afraid to mix them. Today she increased my Lithium and Lamical. I'm going to start journaling again and putting some in my blog - this helps me plus it brings some of my memory forward. I decided to start making jewelry and do some drawing. The problem is getting me started. I've started writing, now if I can just draw to bring that into my blogs. Thans for bring this up and giving me the opportunity to talk about it.

Vickie, I am so happy that you saw your doctor and your meds were adjusted. I think that it's good to document how they are making you feel on a day-to-day basis so that you can communicate this to your doctor the next time you have an appointment. Also, it's so exciting that you are going to be making jewelry and drawing, what a wonderful creative outlet.

Sending you many positive vibes and wishing you all of the best.

Thank you so much for your support. I've been journaling since I was 18, now 59. I sometimes read over them and think about what a sad and confused person I was. It helps. Again, thanks for your support
